AM2301B Temperature and Humidity Sensor (I²C)
The AM2301B is an affordable and reliable sensor for measuring temperature and relative humidity. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice for a variety of maker projects and IoT applications. Visually, it closely resembles the popular DHT22/AM2302 sensors but offers a significant upgrade – it uses the standard I²C interface, which simplifies integration with microcontrollers.
Inside the enclosure is the advanced AHT20 sensor, which enables fast and frequent data acquisition. The sensor operates with a wide supply voltage range from 2.5V to 5.5V, making it compatible with both 3V and 5V logic devices such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
The AM2301B provides typical accuracy of ±2% relative humidity and ±0.3 °C in the range of 20–80% RH and 20–60 °C. It includes built-in 4.7kΩ pull-up resistors on the I²C lines and uses a fixed I²C address (0x38), which means it’s not suitable for applications that require multiple identical sensors on the same I²C bus.
Despite that, its ease of use, solid accuracy, and low price make it a great solution for many hobby and professional projects. It is supported by open-source Arduino and CircuitPython libraries, with documentation and examples available.
Technical Specifications:
Each unit comes with one AM2301B sensor module in a plastic enclosure with pre-attached wires (non-waterproof).
